NY Fashion Week Fall ’08. Luxe-Goth and Fauvist Flair at Vera Wang

February 7, 2008 • New York Fashion Week Fall '08

Summary: Vera Wang created a collection that has been by far one of her most compelling. Inspired by the Dutch painter, Kees von Dogen (well, Dutch by birth and educated in gay Paris), it was certainly playful (note the exaggerated florals) it didn’t wane into the aisle of kitsch or surrealism. Just a little dark, the emphasis on texture invites the viewer to come closer and have a moment of personal indulgence.

Colors: charcoal, pink, navy, yellow, poppy, purple, hunter, green, tobacco, black, stardust, yellow, pop taupe, midnight, bronze, orange, ivory, platinum, beige, plum, rust orange, antique silver

Fabrics: chiffon, rosettes, rich floral tapestry, faille, hammered satin, twill, silk, plisse, techno-tapestry, felt, silk gauze, satin chiffon, organza, jacquard, cashmere, boucle, wool crepe, broadtail, tutu material, silver sequins, satin silk, fox, techno satin
