Gabbie Perez for Second City Style Magazine
I’m back home from Paris for the summer. There’s nothing quite like
the USA in the summer — the Fourth of July fireworks, the sweet corn on
the cob, and being flat broke on my last vacation of college. (Needless
to say, the Euro-Dollar exchange rate has been detrimental to my bank
account). I’ve managed to allot myself a sweet $500 to get my summer essentials. But with all the trends this season, will I be able to make my budget?
First on the list… I’ve been pining over a graphic dress for some time
now and of course they are in season when I have no money in my bank. I
love the long sleeves/short hemline of these dresses — a revealing yet
balanced cut perfect for summer days. I really want the Betsey Johnson (sigh), but the J. Crew’s color and pattern are nice too!

Call me nostalgic, but I’m ecstatic that jelly sandals are back. I’ll never forget my favorite pink pair from Gap Kids circa 1994. And they make the best beach shoes. I’ve had my eye on the Givenchy pair since I saw them in French Vogue, but I’ll have to settle for the MIAs Not a bad substitute as they resemble my childhood pair perfectly!
