What do you do when your pop-turned-country music career is floundering, but you are still sort of famous and very beautiful? Why… design clothes, of course! Which is why the Camuto Group is expanding its Jessica Simpson franchise with the introduction of intimate apparel for Spring 2009. The lingerie is licensed to Muse Creative Group, which we think basically means Simpson will hardly have a hand in the designs.
Her philosophy on lingerie is respectably simple: "I like different lingerie for different occasions. I think that’s the
best thing about it. You can feel sexy or girly depending on your mood," she told WWD. "It is the first thing you put on. If you start with
something that fits correctly and is comfortable and fashionable, it
will only complement your look." Can’t argue with that. We certainly hope her line doesn’t add to the millions of poor-fitting, shoddily-made bras on the market.
Simpson’s new line will include bras, panties, sleepwear, and daywear, and will join the shoe, swim, handbag, outerwear, and sunglass lines in the Simpson brand. She also anticipates developing a fragrance and a line of belts for the Fall. We think Simpson intimates is probably a safe bet. If the line is as cutely sexy as Jess was in her Newlywed days, we might have to check it out! If only we could get those visions of scary dad/manager Papa Joe Simpson out of our head…
