I totally forgot to congratulate Stephanie Izard, who emerged victorious as the first female winner of "Top Chef" last week. Finally! After three previous seasons of men…a Chicago woman won. (Yes, Chicagoan Dale Levitski came in second place last season and we love his food too).
It’s a well known fact that I’m not only a fashionista, but a foodie. So I was of course glued to this show. In fact, I may like it as much as Project Runway (shhhh).
I was personally crushed when I had heard that arguably one of the best restaurants in Chicago (and notably the best meal I have had in Chicago to date), Scylla had closed so the owner could travel. Er, what? I cried real tears. Then to see Stephanie on Top Chef? Well it all made sense.
A brilliant move really. Stephanie, you deserved to win and we are all very proud to scream "she’s from Chicago!"
I personally can’t wait to try her next restaurant. If it’s half as good as the last, it will be brilliant.
