Steven Meisel Photographs from the Spring/Summer ’06 Prada campaign
Steven Meisel is a hot commodity! According to WWD, he is shooting new ad campaigns for Vera Wang, Gianfranco Ferré,
Pringle of Scotland, AND Missoni. That’s one way to stay busy!
Meisel shot Stella Tennant for the Wang ads. "I chose to work
with Steven Meisel because of his ability to photograph women so beautifully,"
Wang said. "He was able to balance the rich texture, color and glamour of the
collection with a languid, leisurely mood." That languid mood sounds like it might be reminiscent of Sasha Pivovarova‘s look above. And speak of the devil, Pivovarova will be featured in Pringle’s campaign. After featuring colorful images that had an ethereal,
dreamlike and mysterious quality to them for spring, Pringle’s fall campaign is
returning to an edgier, modern take. The new ads will feature Matt Gordon alongside Pivovarova — who was picked because she is a
favorite of the creative director (and she was available after
being released from her Prada contract).
Missoni’s ads, inspired by a 1970s film, will feature Iselin Steiro, Kinga Rajzak, and Mathias
Lauridsen. And finally, the Ferré campaign will unfold a multicharacter story set in the ’40s,
featuring models Julia Stegner, Malgosia, and Javier de Miguel.
Let’s hope Meisel really pushes himself creatively, and the pages of every magazine aren’t filled with Prada-esque lounging models in different styles and settings.
