Model and Project Runway host Heidi Klum will help host the Emmys this year, in what I can only assume is a stunt to combat the abysmal ratings of awards shows in the past year. She, along with the 4 other Emmy-nominated reality hosts, will all host together. The others are Dancing with the Stars’ Tom Bergeron, Deal or No Deal‘s Howie Mandel, Survivor‘s Jeff Probst, and American Idol‘s Ryan Seacrest, who I suspect will helm the ship, since he was last year’s host.
First of all, let me express my utter outrage that Cat Deeley of So You Think You Can Dance was not nominated. The former model is easily the most genuine and endearing personality on TV, and her style is arguably cooler and definitely more daring than Heidi’s. Ah well, maybe it’s because she’s British. Second of all, if Jeff Probst somehow wins, I will eat at shoe. Hate that guy. Third of all, Tom Bergeron should definitely win. He’s half the reason I watch DWTS. Anyway…
Over at BravoTV.com, they are predicting that the awards show itself might be a reality-style battle. Monica Reyhani writes, "I’m not totally sure how this will work, but one of my colleagues
suggested they will duke it out in a series of challenges throughout
the show leaving one woman (naturally) standing! Better yet, what if
they each had to compete in challenges inspired by the other hosts’
shows?! I don’t know how plausible this all is, but I know that I would
pay good money to see Seacrest try to make a dress out of garbage bags."
I would totally tune in for that, even without Cat Deeley.
