Warner Bros. is launching a line of contemporary sportswear, branded Supergirl, to be ready for resort selling, and the company has brought in 3 designers to direct. Shoshanna Lonstein Gruss, Alice Roi and Laura Poretzky, who happen to be childhood friends, were connected to Warner Bros. through Roi’s husband, Marc Beckman, who works for the Designers Management Agency. Beckman admits that he thought the Supergirl line was a silly idea, until he started thinking about it non-literally. Once he saw the potential, he pitched it to his wife, who brought in her friends.
According to WWD, the designers envisioned the line’s look alone, and then came together and mixed the best features of each designer’s ideas. The collection is further described: "The Supergirl shield logo is placed subtlety throughout the
collection — embroidered on a button, branded on a snap or stamped on a
small leather patch on the pocket of a pair of jeans. The first
collection is made up of about 35 pieces and includes wool day dresses,
silk party dresses, silk blouses, cotton skirts, patent leather
jackets, a twill trenchcoat and cotton twill denim jeans."
The pieces, ranging from $23 to $193, are being marketed to high-end department stores. With the recent focus on superheroes in fashion and culture, we don’t think it should be hard! Check out some of the looks below.
