Over at The Cut, they are doling out advice on fashion week, from parties to shows and beyond. The most pertinent thing we’ve read is their focus on five up-and-coming designers. As they put it, "everyone’s always looking for the next breakout talent, but
the tents can leave you feeling empty if you don’t know where to look.
Hence, some guidance: We’ve got five up-and-coming designers to watch
at the spring 2009 shows."
1. Joanne Cordero Reyes
Known for: long, clean lines in eveningwear, tough and sexy edges to feminine pieces (like a faux-alligator pencil skirt)
2. Jen Kao
Known for: precise tailoring, out-of-this-world draping
3. Miguel Adrover
Known for: a natural style, sending Havaiannas down the runway
4. Frank Tell
Known for: amazing silhouettes, two-tone palettes and geometrical shapes
5. Abigail Lorick
Known for: doubling as Eleanor Waldorf’s label on Gossip Girl, former model who designs feminine, tailored looks
