Vivienne Westwood! Yes, the new wave London designer is releasing an album. It’s almost as odd as former models Carla Bruni and Milla Jovovich making tunes. But as The Cut pointed out, "Hey, if musicians can make clothing lines, there’s no reason designers can’t make CDs."
Ahhh but luckily, it’s actually just a compilation of the designer’s favorite songs, created by real musicians. The album will be named Catwalk Breakdown and will feature tracks like "Last Night Was Made for Love," by Billy Fury, and Tchaikovsky’s Waltz of the Flowers. Westwood "conceptualized, curated, and art-directed the album" so it’s like a little piece of fashion art in itself.
Westwood herself stated, "My clothes always tell a story. It may refer to the past, but it’s
always projected into this heroic future. And I choose the music
accordingly … Sometimes the music can just be sexy, it can let you
relax, look at the clothes, put people into a fantastic mood. Then it
might just have to swing back and lift you up to the final triumph of
the fashion show. These are some of the pieces that I’ve relied on over all these years — my classics. They’ve never failed me." It definitely will make the perfect Fashion Week soundtrack!
