This economy has been taking a toll on newsstand sales, and we’ve seen multiple magazines fold. But amidst all that, we’ve found some good news! Like the Times and The Wall Street Journal before it, The New York Observer will introduced a glossy, weekly style magazine to its periodical pages.
According to Fashion Week Daily, "Freddie Lieba has been named fashion director, Marc Balet was named
creative director, and Observer stalwart Simon Doonan will, of course,
continue to add his two cents." Quite a line-up! Observer Style will launch November 18 as an insert to the newspaper and will also be distributed to upscale hotels around NYC.
We’re told to "expect fashion and jewelry spreads, satires and irreverent commentary," as well as Fashion Week coverage. But the weekly won’t be Jared Kushner‘s first foray into fashion. The 27-year-old editor of the Observer is known to grace the front rows of Fashion Week, including Narciso Rodriguez and Max Azria shows in the past. Hopefully his interest in fashion will carry over to a successful print endeavor for the Observer.See the Top Ten Summer 2016 Trends for Women Over 40
