New York Fashion Week Spring ’09. Brian Reyes

September 11, 2008 • New York Fashion Week Spring '09

Summary: Brian Reyes presented a finely crafted, sophisticated and wearable collection for Spring ’09. The colors were mild, rarely straying from neutrals and black, but the shapes were exquisite. Extremely chic slim-cut suits, tiered ruffle dresses and petaled boleros expressed the designer’s vision of a young sophisticate where the colors failed. Pocket tees and sweaters were elevated from a classic, casual style to a transitional day to evening look. Although the show may have lacked a powerful wow factor, the chic clothes certainly won’t send any pretty young thing to the worst dressed list.

Color Palette: white, cream, coral, chartreuse, navy, black

Fabrics & Textures: crepe suiting, cotton suiting, cotton faille, chiffon, crinkled silk, silk, organza, gazaar, viscose, moray, suede, crocodile, zebra print, animal print, marble print, organic stripe, tribal stripe, mirage stripe, metal embroidery

Key Looks: sharp tailored crepe suiting blazer, embroidered French knot tank and viscose mini shorts;sharp tailored beaver print blazer, high waist zebra print tailored trouser and a pit-tuck blouse; metal mosaic dress
