We are going to start with the best dressed and work our way down. In fact, we are going to place them in order. Some trends we noticed?
1. Purple Power. As you probably already know, purple is the color for fall and was seemingly everywhere on the Emmy red carpet. Who wore it? Hayden Panettiere, Tina Fey, Julie Benz and Nicolette Sheridan.
2. Dressed to the Gild. Yes, pewter and platinum or pewter colors (whether in the color or the embellishments) prompted actresses to show their metal on the red carpet. As seen on Heidi Klum, Olivia Wilde, Felicity Huffman, Christina Applegate and Kyra Sedgwick.
3. Singing like a Canary. Canary yellow made a big splash. Too bad it only worked on Mariska Hargitay.
Olivia Wilde of House in a gorgeous pearl-grey Reem
Acra gown, Jimmy Choo heels, Stuart Weitzman clutch and Kwiat jewels.
Heidi Klum in a stunning Armani Privé gown and Lorraine Schwartz earrings
Marcia Cross looking angelic in Elie Saab Haute Couture and Rene Caovilla heels (hate the giant butterfly earrings though)
Nicollette Sheridan in Angel Sanchez
Christina Applegate in a beautiful Reem Acra gown (fresh off the Spring ’09 runway), Lorraine Schwartz diamonds and Jimmy Choo shoes
Brooke Shields in a a full-on glam fuchsia Badgley Mischka gown with Fred Leighton diamonds
Mariska Hargitay in a Carolina Herrera marigold gown with Fred Leighton jewels and Jimmy Choo heels. Not many can pull this color off, but she looks stunning.
Sandra Oh in Oscar de la Renta, Bulgari jewels, a vintage Chanel clutch, and
pearl-accented Chanel heels
Debra Messing in a hot off the Spring ’09 runway Monique Lhuillier gown and Fred Leighton diamonds
Evangeline Lilly in an elegent Elie Saab couture gown, Kwiat diamonds and Zufi Alexander clutch.
America Ferrera in vintage and Fred Leighton antique diamonds.
The OK (but could have been better)
Kyra Sedewick looks amazing at 43 but I would have liked to have seen her in a gown. She wore L’Wren Scott, Fred Leighton jewels and Jimmy Choo sandals
Eva Longoria opted for a too-short Marchesa flapper dress and Verdura jewels. Again, I wish she had worn a gown. But this look only ads fuel to the rumors she is preggers! No?
Kate Walsh in Zuhair Murad, a Jimmy Choo clutch Neil Lane diamonds. I just can’t get into her hair dark brown. Bring back the red hair! She looks too severe and like she can’t breathe. The dress gives her a weird silhouette.
Cynthia Nixon in an aqua Calvin Klein gown and Fred Leighton
jewels. Pretty color, but the styling of the gown is too simple for the
Hayden Panettiere in Badgley Mischka antique Fred Leighton diamonds and pulled-back hair. She just looks too old (and the dress is too tight). I wish she would embrace her age.
January Jones may be gorgeous but she doesn’t look it in this sad number by Dolce & Gabbana. The color just disappears on her.
Tina Fey in a deep purple David Meister gown. I don’t care for the fit and sorry to say, I like her in her trademark glasses!
Mary-Louise Parker in a turquoise Roberto Cavalli gown a la 1980, Daniel Swarovski clutch and Cartier diamonds. I’m just not digging the color or draping on her.
Lauren Conrad in her own creation. Leave the designing to the professionals. And at least design something that fits properly. Yep…enough said.
Julia Louis-Dreyfus in a salmon Narciso
Rodriguez gown and Tiffany & Co. diamonds. He’s one of our favorite designers too and it pans me to say this, but I don’t like the color on her.
Jennifer Love Hewitt pulls off the impossible and makes a Carolina Hererra gown look bad with that awful mess of an updo. Quite a feat. Well done.
Teri Hatcher in Monique Lhuillier. Just not feeling it.
Kathy Griffin was sure the funny lady in this drapery Von Trap gown. And what was with those gawd awful hair extensions, may I ask?
Rita Wilson with hubby Tom Hanks. You should have seen the side view! Over-ruched.
The WTF?…truly frightening
Phoebe Price in hooker wear. I love the red lace headband, it really makes the ouftit. I’m at a loss.
Christina DeRosa. The whole world’s her stage.
