I swear I did a post on plaid last fall, but for Fall ’08 the RTW runways showed it a little differently. Last year’s plaid was in the form of say a shirt….just a little plaid poking out. This year it’s full-on mix and match plaid, if you dare. Actually, as you can see anything goes.
I love the look of a plaid dress poking out beneath a solid colored jacket or cardigan (see Preen above) or an elegantly tailored plaid jacket with black skinny pants (see Ralph Lauren above). Plaid coats are also huge this season (see Nanette Lepore above). Only the brave (and skinny) should try to mix plaids (see D&G above) or you could risk looking like a circus clown. I also adore dark grey stockings with plaid instead of the expected black opaque (see Thakoon above).
