Yes they are everywhere! It’s seriously it’s all about the chunky sweater this fall/winter. Long loose cardigans, big knit pullovers and mid-length and short belted cardigans seemed to take over the fall ’09 RTW runway. That’s great news for those of us who live in cooler climates!
Think of the sweater as your jacket. Throw a long cardi over a printed dress and belt it with a skinny belt so that an inch or two of fabric is seen beneath (see Diane von Furtenberg above) or wear a loosely knit cropped sweater with a short skirt. The longer version looks best with a skinny belt. The shorter with a wide belt (see Fendi and Oscar de la Renta above). This look is not recommended on those days you are feeling fat (come on we all have them). This is one look that is not all about proportions necceissarily. However, if you are not pin thin and want to avoid looking like Jabba the Hut, don’t go too chunky.
