O’Hare International was the fashionable place to be today. Right around the corner from the Starbuck’s in Terminal 2 you can’t miss the brilliant "Fashion Focus" blue drapery surrounding a lounge and display featuring our local Chicago designers. What a great way for travelers arriving or making a connecting via the Windy City to see that yes, we do have fashion in Chicago! I saw women walking by in a hurry to catch their flights but still craning their heads to look at the display of mannequins, and many rolled their luggage right up to the display to get a closer look.
Among the designers were Michelle Tan, Orlando Espinoza, Beth Lambert, Abigail Glaum-Lathbury and many favorites that we already know.
Set up within the display is a little concierge desk with friendly assistants distributing maps and information on Chicago’s shopping scene.
Today a roaming group of models will be moving from terminal to terminal throughout the airport led by a man with a Boom-Box. The models will be passing out the business cards of the local designers to interested travelers.
I wish they could keep this up year-round yet will be up through October 9th. It sure beats looking at key-chains during a layover! This was a fun way to kick-off Fashion Focus Chicago 2008 which will be here next week October 1 – 8.
