It is no secret that Second City Style loves Project Runway, so we were excited to catch up with Jeffrey Sebelia (again) at the Bonnie & Clyde fashion show at Lumen in Chicago. The winner of Project Runway’s Season three and all-around stylish badass, Jeffrey has his own line, Cosa Nostra, and has recently launched Good Vig, a women’s line with a rock’n’roll feel and refined silhouettes.
Described as "pretty, but not girly", we thoroughly enjoyed this collection, especially a flattering black and white print jersey dress, a raspberry hued silk frock with black sleeves, and a series of metallic looks that managed to be a little eighties and a little futuristic at the same time (Jeffrey did cite Blade Runner as an inspiration, so this makes perfect sense).
The night also featured a show that highlighted the fall winter offerings from Bonnie & Clyde, the Bucktown boutique that carries Jeffrey’s work. Standouts included a stripey tunic/dress and a full length black coat with a high collar and train – perfect for bringing the drama during a cold Chicago winter. The shoes for all the ensembles were provided by Pump, another local boutique located just down the street from Bonnie & Clyde – we liked the brocade booties best.
Of course, the evening was entertaining in non-fashion related ways as well. Jeffrey himself provided a bit of comic relief between shows – a moment that involved a Q&A session with his hairstylist, who was dressed in a complete zebra costume and some serious platform boots. He was easily the most fabulous and the most glamorously eccentric (a la Simon Doonan) person in the room.
