When was the last time you cleaned your makeup brushes? Probably on the 14th of never! Well, you should know it is imperative to clean your makeup brushes not only to maintain the life of your brushes but to rid your brushes of potentially harmful bacteria that can cause unsightly acne or skin irritations. Vanitymark founder and makeup artist, Brett Freedman, offers a great way to get the most from your makeup brushes!
How to Maintain Your Brushes
To keep brushes sanitized and in tip-top shape, make sure to wash them once a week. Quickly wash your bathroom sink with a little hand soap, then squeeze squiggles of a gentle shampoo along the bottom. Then, take each brush and swirl the brush head through the shampoo squiggles. Set each (with soapy head) aside and let sit for 3-5 minutes to allow the shampoo to break down dirt and oils. Under warm running water, rinse each brush against the bottom of the sink. Blot off excess water and air dry for 1-2 hours.
