I’ve embraced the CTA – and force myself to take it as often as I can so I’m not driving my own car or taking a cab unecessarily. I’ve managed to save money in the process!

I have started taking an active role in greening my world. I now recycle aluminum, paper and plastic. I use Compact Fluorescent Light Bulbs, drive less by combining errands and taking my own totes to the grocery store rather using plastic bags. Tomorrow starts with today.

i try to buy from companies that are either organic or donate to that cause. I choose to buy locally grown produce, especially during summer.

I’m a college student, so sometimes being green is completely affordable! However, I’ve made an effort to take the bus or walk, reuse anything possible, and say no to plastic bags! when I get them, I find second and third uses for them, and don’t throw them away until they’re completely tattered. I also double check with customers where I work that they REALLY need a plastic bag, rather than just giving them to everyone. A lot of people actually turn a bag down, saving lots of plastic!

I have switched over to canvas shopping bags, when we needed to buy mattresses for our kids after the crib we bought organic cotton and wool mattresses and organic cotton sheets and pillows and this summer we planted a garden behind our flour-plex and ate all our veggies out of it, we even had fresh cut flowers all summer because of it and we made sure that the flowers were the type that attract honey bees.

I always use my own bags at the grocery store. My grocery also gives me 4 cents for each bag that I bring in and use! There are way to many plastic bags going to the landfill~
