Tote Exposure

Long before Prada became the label of choice for serious fashionistas,
the Italian megabrand was just a no-fuss leather company with a knack
for sturdy shoes and suitcases. But when Mario Prada’s granddaughter,
Miuccia Prada, took over the company in 1978, she rewrote the history
books for both her family and the entire fashion industry. It all
started with a simple black nylon tote, which launched a thousand
look-alikes and ushered in the utilitarian-chic look that dominated the
1990’s. From there, Miuccia built a luxury fashion empire churning out
everything from high-tech handbags to feminine, ethereal gowns, which
are always coveted by red carpet regulars like Julianne Moore and Uma

Daring Darling

Algerian-born Yves Saint Laurent is regarded as one of the greatest
French fashion designers of the twentieth-century. Laurent moved to
Paris and worked for Christian Dior, becoming the head designer for the
label at only twenty-one after the untimely death of the master. Backed
by this experience, Yves Saint Laurent founded his eponymous label in
1962 with partner Pierre Berge. His collections soon became famed for
their daring but elegant looks, a reputation that holds true today.

Traveling Man

Serving Empress Eugenie de Montijo, the wife of Napoleon III (of
France), Monsieur Louis Vuitton developed an expert understanding of
what made a good traveling case. In 1854, Vuitton put this knowledge to
use, founding his eponymous brand, which specialized in traveling
trunks. The collection met with instant success and fueled the later
expansion of the brand into fashion and accessories, heralded by
today’s creative director and icon, Marc Jacobs.

Parisian Perfection

Renowned for its classic French elegance and unsurpassed craftsmanship,
Chanel is an icon of luxury and style. Founded in 1910 by Gabrielle
Bonheur, more commonly known as "Coco" Chanel, the label that began as
a hat shop quickly expanded into fashion and accessories,
revolutionizing both fields. From strands of pearls to quilted
handbags, Chanel is synonymous with Parisian perfection.
