A Year In Review

2008 was an exciting year for fashion. Many new, vibrant, and innovative ideas took center stage.

Some classics were brought back with punches of creativity, but there is one thing that always stays the same — fashion will always be about you own personal expression.

Don’t fear what’s new or undone! Even though designers and fashion experts spend countless hours to provide a guideline for the masses, there is still so much room for a tailor-made look.

The past year has been full of many surprises, but probably the biggest trends have been bright colors, ruffles, men’s-inspired wear, and some of the most outrageous shoes you’ve ever seen.

With brights, you always have to be careful not to overdo it. If so, you end up looking like an 80’s punk. Remember, keep it as a simple statement piece, not a scary-looking, florescent mess.

Another hot trend for the year was ruffles. This is a way to always be a bit glam without overdoing it. It’s easy to dress up an outfit with a simple, ruffled top.

An always classy and wildly sexy look that tends to make its way back ever so often is the men’s-inspired wear. Who can resist a feminine touch to an already stellar look?

Last but not least, this year has ushered in some amazing shoes. From runway to sidewalk, they have grabbed the attention to any true shoe lover.

Looking back on the year, any fashionista can smile with satisfaction. This was a good year for creativity and rebirth of classics.

As you prepare for the New Year and new fashion, always remember to wear what you love — what inspires you.

As for what will be crave-able…I wouldn’t throw out anything plaid or ombre, but that’s just a guess.

Happy New Year!
