Retail Detail. Chicago’s Active Endeavors No Longer Active

January 19, 2009 • Shopping

We knew that Active Endeavors was in some trouble for quite a while now (hello, take an extra 10% off 75%?), and sadly have to report that they have decided to close their three retail stores. Glencoe and Lincoln Park locations closed their doors Sunday night, and all merchandise has moved to the Evanston store for liquidation sales expected to last throughout February.

While all three retail locations are going out of business, Active Endeavors' online store will still be operational. Or so they claim. Their website,, accounts for 2/3rds of all retail sales, according the The Chicago Tribune, and costs much less to maintain. Also, a large portion of Active Endeavors sales was from overseas, so they expect this move to be a profitable one. Although, rumor has it, they are just done….period (site and all) and this is purely spin. There is no new inventory online which makes us suspicious as does the fact they are known to not pay manufacturer bills on time. Now a reliable source has confirmed to Second City Style that Active Endeavors is closing everything. For good.

On a lighter note, Active Endeavors is having an End of Season Blowout Sale with up to 75% off, with an additional 10% if you enter coupon code "sale10" at checkout. Just don't expect to make returns. Happy Shopping!
