Inauguration ’09. Who Wore What

Diane von Furstenberg at The Huffington Post pre-inaugural ball

Any designer who had some sort of presence at Tuesday night’s inaugural balls, has it made in the shade. Leave it to Hollywood to amp up the normally fashion-challenged city Washington D.C…if only for one night (I can say that, I used to live there). Oprah wore Vera Wang, Faith Hill wore Carolina Herrera, Halle Berry and Angela Bassett both wore Kai Milla…so the
fashion crowd clearly has no qualms about self-promotion in the name of

gave Isabel Toledo, Narciso Rodriguez, J. Crew and Maria
some serious marketing clout without any heads-up or the designers having to spend the big bucks. Same for for
Jill Biden, who went with off-the-rack finds from Milly, Susana Monaco
and Reem Acra during the festivities.

Diane von Furstenberg, Nanette Lepore and
Kai Milla (married to Stevie Wonder) were among the designers who traveled to D.C. to take part in
the festivities.
