As a beauty writer and admitted product junkie, I am buying and shopping for beauty products all the time. But, I have to admit it's still fascinating finding out what makeup and skincare products others are using, and why. So, I asked our Second City Style Editors and Writers to fess up about their secret beauty regimens, skincare, favorite makeup products, and the products they can't live without… Everyday this week, we will showcase a new one, to see just what products they are loving at the moment.
I first spoke with our Editor-in-Chief of Second City Style, Lauren Dimet Waters. She gave us the rundown of her day-to-day skincare, her favorite products of the moment, and the the products she can't live without.
Let's take a peek into her bag!
KDE: What is your favorite moisturizer/skincare at the moment?
LDW: I hate to admit I still get breakouts (because with wrinkles, it's just not fair), so I use the Clean & Clear Advantage Acne Control kit. The cleanser every day. I also use Somme Institute's Double Defense 30 spf sunscreen every day. At night I use MD Skincare's Hydra-Pure Intense Moisture Cream, especially on my neck. Oh and I always use eye cream. Since I was 19. The thicker the better. Right now I am loving Om Extrait de Caviar at night and Prescriptives All You Need For Eyes during the day under my makeup.
KDE: What's your favorite foundation?
LDW: I am still obsessed with Armani Luminous Silk Foundation, but now I use MAC Mineralize Skinfinish on top when I want a flawless finish or on the days I don't want too much coverage.
KDE: Do you have a favorite eye product that you are really loving now?
LDW: For my eyes I adore my Cargo eye palette and I use SuperNova mascara. You (Kelley) got me hooked on MAC eyeliner in Teddie which makes my eyes appear super green. For night I add a bit of MAC Nice Vice (deep purple) Paint Pot to my lids.
KDE: Any lip product obsessions?
LDW: OK, I am going to admit something here. I still use and love my Wet-N-Wild .99 lip liner in #666. It's the perfect shade for me and I don't freak out if I lose it like I did when I lost my Chanel liner of the same color. I have been wearing MAC Twig lipstick for years and everytime I try to change it, I go back. However, I also love to top it off with Tarte's Rock-n-Roll gloss which I got hooked on during last year's Beauty Olympics.
KDE: So, what's your favorite product of all time, that you can't live without? Or the one product that is always found in your bag.
LDW: That is a hard one…I can't live without lip gloss. Seriously. It has to be on my lips 24/7. I am addicted. I read somewhere it is called 'grease addiction'. I vary brands and have them hidden all over the place. I prefer the ones with some color, right now I am hot on Tarte's Rock-n-Roll, their Double Dose in Acai Boost and MAC Lipglee in Moistly…yes they are all in my makeup bag now. I also always have my Laura Mercier Flawless Fix pencil in warm for that emergency little flaw that needs to be covered (it's like an eraser) and Sue Devitt's Triple C-Weed Pressed Powder because I hate any shine on my face whatsoever.
