Summary: Inspired by the cherry blossoms, Samurai warriors and graceful geishas of 19th century Japanese photographs, Adam Lippes presented an enticing collection of vibrant colors, rich textures and wearable pieces. Love was in the air at the Adam show, held at 2pm on Valentine’s Day in the Promenade at Bryant Park. His fall/winter collection commenced with a silk pant and black chiffon shirt that immediately set the elegant, yet laid back tone. Trousers were in full force, along with chiffon neck-tie tops and ensembles perfect for lounging, like look #17 – grey cotton jeans with a Japanese micro-floral print menswear shirt and heather grey wool cardigan. There were other chic day looks reminiscent of Japanese silk pajamas, and by the end of the show these had morphed into fun cocktail dresses with stunning details.
Color Palette: Begonia, milk white, graphite and heather grey, aubergine, vermilion, fuschia, navy, shocking orange, cream, emerald, juniper, topaz and black
Textures & Details: Chiffon, silk gauze, cotton, wool, cashmere, viscose jersey, satin and a bit of quilted leather. Flash fur lining, feathers and metal embroidery.
Key Looks: Belted, merino wool hand-knit sweater coat; milk colored dress with wool felt and metal feather embroidery; juniper silk duchess pleated skirt with elastic waist and topaz satin crepe dolman top with cherry blossom embroidery; “fuji” embroidered dress.
