New York Fashion Week Fall ’09. Bandaged Up in Herve Leger

February 15, 2009 • New York Fashion Week Fall '09

Summary: Herve Leger by Max Azria was once again filled with the ever-so sleek and seductive bandeau dresses every starlet adores. I'd first like to stress how difficult it is for one designer to create a successful clothing line. But three? Max Azria has already presented two of his three collections (Herve Leger and BCBG) this season so far. With the Max Azria runway collection right around the corner, this designer is bound to have a successful Fall '09 run.

The overall theme for this collection seemed to be very tribal. The smoky, earth-tone backdrop of the runway was reminiscent of the color palette throughout the show. A mix between browns, coppers, greens, grays and black made its way up and down the runway. Azria upgraded the quintessential bandage dress that has become so iconic. This season, the construction of each dress was more intricate. The basket weave dresses, metal appliques and crystal beading embellishments were also a personal favorite.

Color Palette: Black, brown, grey, green, mustard, taupe, beige, copper

Textures & Details: Spandex, rayon, velvet, chiffon, woven bandaging construction, patchwork, metal plate appliqués, crystal beadwork, animal prints

Key Looks: Brown beaded snakeskin and bandage patchwork dress; crystal beaded snake print bandage dress (Seriously, the pictures do not do this dress justice. It literally glistened down the entire runway); black weave bandage dress with crystal appliqué and black woven leather bag with crystal appliqué inserts

Needless to say, nothing but perseverance can lead a man to the way of success. In other words, a persevering man never does his work without succeeding in it. This is indeed unchangeable truth.
