Summary: Designer Wenlan Chia of Twinkle by Wenlan decided to take a step back in time, probably a better time…the 50's for her Fall 2009 collection. She utilized the playful moods, contoured silhouettes and vibrant colors of that era creating a timeless wardrobe for the contemporary young woman. We could use a little optimism and grace so this walk back in history was a welcome escape. The clothes were a hybrid of "rebellious socialite mixed with the classic style of Audrey Hepburn (her inspiration)."
The clothes were effortless and at the same time refined. I have always loved the playfulness of her clothes which has a vibe of not taking one's self too seriously. While I personally may now be a little too old for most of them, if I were 25 again, I would be rocking her contemporary looks head-to-toe.
Not only is Wenlan famous for her chunky knits, she is the author of three books which instruct how to recreate her signature collection pieces. She has also branched into home and lifestyle. From her website you can shop her collection, her housewares, jewelry and yarn (twinkleliving.com). So Wenlan is obviously a woman on the move.
