Summary: Designer Michelle Smith has served as her very own muse for the line of Milly. A little odd I suppose, when designers such as Marc Jacobs are using models like Jessica Stam to inspire their collections. Milly, a contemporary clothing line known for its exquisite color, was lacking some of that pop at her Fall '09 fashion show. Alright, so there was a hint of gold and pink that peeped up on the runway a few times. Other than that, color was pretty limited. This struck me as strange since I recently purchased a Milly floral shift dress full of bright hues. On the plus side, many LBD's graced the runway in a variety of silhouettes and textures. And really, can you ever have enough?
Smith was also inspired by the lifestyles of the Uptown girls galavanting through Manhattan's finest galleries and museums. Beautiful coats, plaid skirts, classic cardigans, schoolgirl mini dresses and silk scarves tied elegantly around the neck cavorted down the runway the same way Blair or Serena would cavort into school. The charcoal "Gallerina" dress is one depiction of the Gossip Girl-esque collection that was filled with femninity, prints and ruffles. Nothing too extravagant, simply lovely. Xoxo.
