Did the Oscars disappoint in the fashion department? Perhaps yes, perhaps no. We saw a lot of repeated trends but also a lot of ones. Red was supposedly a big color this year…but I didn't see too much–though I did see a lot of one sleeve gowns and a lot of the fishtail gowns of previous years. So who were the Oscar winners? The ones who tried something different–and worked it!
I wasn't sure how much I loved Heidi Klum's gown. But what I did like about it was the fact that it was trying something new. She went for the more sculpted, architectural look a la high fashion. And it won her points!
Perhaps these celebs were trying a little too hard to make a statement. Drab colors, but texturized fabrics do make a difference right? I'm not quite so sure.
Isn't it funny that Angelina went for her typical dark, black goth look while little innocent Jennifer Aniston chose white. Something to think about…
Was it just a coincidence that Alicia Keys and Natalie Portman both wore lilac? Freida Pinto is a fashion winner time and time again and for the Oscars, she doesn't hold back.
Ironically, both Halle Berry and Beyonce Knowles paired their fishtail gowns in very fashionable new colors for Oscar–black and gold.
