Here is a trend we are just wild about for Spring/Summer '09…going nude. No we don't mean naked, silly. We are talking about flesh-toned colors like buff, beige, apricot and ecru. These new nudes are certainly not new to the runway, but they way they were presented for spring certainly was. Think about pairing nude with black or trying a vest in buff sequins to add some subtle pizazz to an otherwise non-existent color palette.
Soft neutrals showed up on many a spring runway as several designers embraced nudity. Some that come to mind are Stella McCartney, Givenchy, Chloe, Burberry, Louis Vuitton and Max Azria…just to name a handful.
Now, you might want to leave the head-to-toe buff look to the celebs, especically if you don't want to blend into the scenery. However, if you have the needed to carry this off, go for it. If you are like me and look dead with anything too flesh-toned near your face and there isn't enough makeup in the world to make you appear alive, try a buff skirt or the season's hot flesh-toned shoes. Um, just stay away from buff 'pantyhose.' In case you need reminding…those are never in style. Well at least not since 1979.
