Last night was the Earnest Sewn Trunk Show at Guise Chic, the new offshoot salon/boutique of the original Guise. Guise Chic offers both and men and women's labels-an expansion from the former Guise that was exclusively a men's salon and boutique. The innovative style hybrid is one of the first of its kind in its new home of Lincoln Park, and markets itself as a "full service lifestyle destination". The owner of predecessor Guise since 2005, Brad Habansky, opened the original boutique with the philosophy that, "hair, skin, clothing all encompass your personal style, and must all be provided under one roof". After several years working strictly in men's style, he still loved the concept of his business but felt like it needed something more. Last year he partnered up with merchandising visionaries Heidi Taylor and Jodi Himmel to create what he describes as, Guise's "evolution" into Guise Chic. Now the 40,000 square foot space carries apparel and accessories for both genders as well as the full service salon.
Though the women's fashion is a newer enterprise, the shop doesn't skimp out on the collection. It features a ton of fresh, edgy brands such as Cloak and Dagger, Acne, Elizabeth and James, Filippa K, Sass and Bide, and Zoa. They also stock more high end labels like Missoni, Loeffler Randall, and Tom Ford. The areas for men and women within the shop are separate but each offers amenities such as personal flat screen TVs at the salon stations, different colored checkout counters, and wall art featuring various style icons. With the space revamped and underway, owner Himmel says more designer trunk shows are in the works. Last night was a showcase of Earnest Sewn denim that featured both new styles as well as old favorites at 25 percent off. Himmel noted the sale on the denim line would continue through the weekend.
Guise Chic is located at 2128 N. Halsted in Chicago
