Dolce & Gabbana Use Ringside Models, Athletes In Upcoming Ad Campaigns

Dolce & Gabbana
have returned to their roots for their Fall/Winter 2009/2010 ad campaigns and have channeled some serious Italian flavor. The idea behind the campaign took cues from Italian film director Luchino Visconti and his classic flick "Rocco e I Suoi Fratelli” (“Rocco and His Brothers”), which includes the raw and edgy backdrop of a boxing ring. Keeping with the same theme, fashion photographer Steven Klein decided to stage the photo shoot for the Fall/Winter ads in the historic Gleason’s Gym in Brooklyn, once a training base for boxing legends Mohammed Ali and Mike Tyson. Using gritty lighting, models including the likes of Madonna's beau Jesus Lux, Noah Mills, Adam Senn, and Eva Herzigova posed dramatically to convey the moody feeling of the shot. You talkin' to me?

On a more lighthearted note, the Dolce & Gabbana summer underwear compaign will feature members of the Italian National Swim Team including Nicola Cassio, Paolo Bossini, Emiliano Brembilla, Alessandro Terrin and Mirko Di Tora. The swimmers turned models were shot in front of a pool at Rome's historic swimming arena, the Circolo Aniene de Roma. The underwear campaign will debut this month in leading publications in Italy, the
U.K., France, Germany and Spain ahead of the World Swimming
Championship to be held June 17 in Rome.
