Claire Danes vs. Chelsea Handler in Lanvin
Winner: The hands down victor of this gorgeous frock is Chelsea Handler. She simply glows against the silky sheen of the dress and her backswept hair, dangly earrings, and muted metallic heels are just enough to complement the dress while still allowing it to be the main attraction. Plus the hem falling just above the knee shows off her sexy gams. Even though the difference in the length of the skirt on Danes is tiny, it makes a huge difference by making her appear much more dowdy. Plus her choice in accessories tends to weigh down the dress, especially the black peeptoes—usually a neutral, but in this case it only turns the ethereal palette more severe.
Winner: Eva Longoria Parker. It's so crazy to see what a difference a few choice details can make. Both women work their similar their dark hair and olive skin tone against the nude hue of the jumpsuit. But the petite Eva had a stroke a genius to cuff the bottom of her pants and choose a platform shoe, instantly elongating her shape. She also seems to fill out the one piece better on top, sorry to say Audrina. The jumpsuit's awkward length and baggy proportion on Partridge makes the sleek ensemble more reminiscent of a mechanic's uniform.
Winner: Grumble, grumble alright we grudgingly declare Paris Hilton the winner. Even though fashion faux pas are more common practice for the ridiculous heiress, she does come out on top against Rihanna in this case. Her glossy black stilettos and, from what it looks like, deco necklace from buddy Nicole Ritchie's House of Harlowe collection offer up a look that's polished and (shockingly) classy with a subtle touch of vamp. Rihanna, even with her signature bouffant hair, might as well be wearing a sweatsuit and she loads the pretty confection down with bags. Even if she didn't resemble a pushcart, her blah shoes and lack of accessories don't quite live up to Paris.
Winner: Kate Bosworth. Now this one may be a matter of opinion because it's always tricky when dealing with a shorts suit. The more current take on the trend and arguably better look would have to be Kate Bosworth. The lines of her suit are clean, the blazer touches right at the hem of the shorts and she pulls it off well with her loose tank, black sandals and minimalist clutch. What Sevigny achieves by choosing to tuck her shirt in and keep the shorts on the suit highwaisted, an approach that is not necessarily bad. What pushes the envelope away from her favor, however, is the fact that her hat and collared button down make her look like a long lost extra from Driving Miss Daisy, a look that adds up to more costume than vintage.
Winner: Annalynne McCord. Speaking of trying to pull off vintage, it always seems to work best when one starts with a retro style or silhouette and then adds on some more modern elements. Such is the case with winner Annalynne McCord. Both women look beautiful in the proportions of the flirty, feminine Alice + Olivia dress. But McCord gives it some extra oomph with her retro ringlets and her peep toe heels that are equal parts vintage and edgy. A classic bright red pout makes her resemble a more current version on Betty Boop. Snow's look is much more plain and predictable. She doesn't seem to own the dress as much as McCord and seems to be ok with her blah status by her choice of uninspired hair and accessories.
