The innovative talent of fashion designer and illustrator Molly Grad has been picked to head up the high end swimwear house of Gottex. The Israeli swimwear line recently lost it's previous chief designer Gideon Oberson when he left the label to "pursue other interests." But the inception of Grad and her artful, illustrative background will seemingly work well with the swimwear line's already creative aesthetic.
Grad is coming out of a role as senior designer to Gianfranco Ferre. She received bachelors and masters degrees from London's prestigious Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design and has already spent time working with both Stella McCartney and Yves Saint Laurent. Grad will work out of London and report to Kathy Van Ness, executive vice president and chief operating officer of Swim Experts Alliance, a manufacturer that runs Gottex as well as Montreal-based line Christina America Inc. Grad's first collection for Gottex is slated to debut next spring, and will be
featured during New York Fashion Week in September, though the date of
the show has yet to be decided.
