Marc Jacobs and Lorenzo Martone, happily in love, are said to marry by the end of the summer
After rumors surfaced several weeks ago that designer Marc Jacobs and longtime partner Lorenzo Martone had not only chosen Cape Cod as the location for their nuptials, but had actually tied the knot already, recent news has confirmed otherwise. WWD reported yesterday that Martone has admitted that Provincetown, Mass. on Cape Cod will be the destination for the upcoming wedding but not only has the ceremony not happened yet, it needs to be pushed back until later this summer due to Jacobs' crazy work schedule. Provincetown has been considered for sometime by the couple due to the fact that Jacobs' business partner, Robert Duffy, owns a summer home there.
Same sex marriage was a topic on many famous minds this past weekend during gay pride festivities across the country. Martone himself did his part to advocate the topic by cohosting an,"I do. I Amsterdam" party at New York's Standard Hotel. The purpose behind the event was to promote an intiative launched by the Dutch capital who already permits gay marriage and is hoping to help establish similar rights for New Yorkers. The attendees featured a who's who of the New York high fashion brigade including Richard Chai, Alexander Wang, Cynthia Rowley, and Christian Soriano, along with Amsterdam's debuty mayor Carolien Gehrels. Martone contributed to the planning of the event as well as it's fundraising components by creating an original art piece for the silent auction of President and Michelle Obama.
“Because of gay pride, I thought a picture about love would be appropriate,” he
noted. “The picture is called ‘Election Love’ and is about the intimacy between
Barack and Michelle, even in public.” Martone seemingly takes his cues from the First couple since becoming notorious for his own public PDAs with Jacobs.
