Dior's latest ad campaign for its new Lady Dior bag features French, Oscar-winning actress Marion Cotillard as a manifestation of the label's chic aesthetic. The newest installment, shot by Annie Leibovitz, sees Cotillard featured as "Lady Red" in New York City, gazing pensively into a mirror at her own reflection. The image is seemingly supposed to represent a double life or stylistic duality which will be represented further in upcoming chapters. The print version of the ads are set to debut around Paris during fashion week in October. The next scene in the campaign, which will be revealed later in the season, will feature a vampy Cotillard getting ready for her
close-up as a femme fatale. The Oscar-winning actress posed atop the
Eiffel Tower in a campaign in the fall for the Lady Dior bag, and was
also featured in a six-and-a-half-minute thriller for the Internet this past
spring. A Dior spokeswoman said another online movie
is planned for December, but it is not yet shot. Dior has joined other couture labels, such as Louis Vuitton, who have recently featured celebrities in ad campaigns in an attempt to revitalize the image associated with the brand.
