French fashion house Celine finally made the crucial decision to close its famed Bruton Street boutique in London last week. As the only freestanding boutique the label held in the city, the closing means that there is now no appropriate place to showcase the label's latest collection from new head designer Phoebe Philo. A spokeswoman told WWD that there currently are plans to reopen a store, but there is no confirmed time frame as of yet. She also denied the rumors that Philo will be showing her Celine line at a concept store in London's Dover Street Market. The designer, made famous by her work at fellow French house Chloe, premiered her first collection for the house last season. The collection, Celine's 2010 Resort, received good reviews and was assumed to be the beginning of a fresher, more modern image for the label.
