July 6, 2009 • Shopping

It has just been reported that, online version of fashion mag extraordinaire Elle, has formed a partnership with
sale Web site
Rue La La. The designer discount web store phenomenon, pioneered by such sites as Gilt Groupe, Ideeli, and Billion Dollar Babes, has been the savior for many a label lusting fashionista. This partnership fostered between webstore and magazine will be the first of its kind and was created under the terms that Rue La La will provide readers with access to invitation-only, limited-time sales
from designer brands and lifestyle experiences.
Each online boutique will typically last about
48 hours and will offer merchandise at discounted prices from brands, as well as
“editor’s picks.”
Reps from both sides seem satisfied with the terms of the new collaboration. Under the newly inked deal, Elle and Rue La La will share the revenues generated from product sales. A spokeswoman for Hachette Filipacchi Media U.S. noted, “That is one of the
beauties of the part
nership — it produces a new revenue stream and provides a
service to our users,” she said.
