Last week brought the sad news that designer Tara Subkoff has been diagnosed with a benign brain tumor. The 36 year-old founder of the couture label Imitation of Christ will have a critical operation later in the summer which could require a recovery time of up to a year. As a result, Subkoff's fellow designers and friends are rallying around her to raise funds for her medical costs and for her care following the operation. The fundraiser, held tomorrow at a New York loft on Grand St. will be an art benefit featuring donated artwork to be sold at a silent auction along with 200 pieces of Imitation of Christ couture from Subkoff's personal collection. The fiscal sponsor of the event, the New York Foundation for the Arts has also volunteered to take monetary donations for the designer as well. All proceeds from the benefit and donations will go to Subkoff directly. We all here at Second City Style wish her a full and speedy recovery.
