Two designer ad campaigns for, uh, underpinnings have debuted this week and we're just not sure which one evokes a steamier reaction. With the racy underwear ad trend back on the rise thanks to skin-loving pioneer Calvin Klein, it seems many high end labels are taking turns in raising the bar by featuring semi-nude celebrities and athletes in their campaigns. The current designer deathmatch is between Armani vs. Dolce & Gabbana who both utilize the famous face method to draw attention to their ads, though its not quite the faces that keep our attention so finely tuned.
Armani opted for British celeb royalty when recruiting David and Victoria Beckham to star together in the black and white fall 2009 underwear campaign. Though both chiseled bodies have posed separately for the Italian label, this was the first time they were featured together. The ads utilized the same rope motif that David originally made famous in previous underwear ads when he posed alone. The effect of them together, however, is possibly twice as steamy.
In a different type of shot (though no less yummy!) Dolce & Gabbana decided to play things closer to home by choosing members of the Italian national swim team to pose for their newest underwear ads. The five swimmers reportedly had no modeling experience before the shoot but that apprently did not translate onto the film. The swimmers names are Emiliano Brembilla, Paolo Bossini, Alessandro Terrin, Mirko Di Tora, and Nicola Cassio and we hope to see them all again real soon.
So which campaign reigns supreme as the most truly captivating? It's really a toss up for us so we'll just let you decide. Happy gazing!
