Despite the fledgling economy the currently questionable relevance of luxury, David Lauren used the end of Paris Couture Week as a springboard to introduce the newest timepiece collection from Ralph Lauren. The American fashion house teamed up with Swiss Luxury Group and Campagnie Financiere Richemont to create the 23 piece collection of luxury watches, ranging from $10,000 to $80,000. The launch party for the collection was held in Paris Wednesday night among a plethora of fellow designers, models, and celebrities. When asked on projected sales in the current financial state, Lauren did admit, “It’s tough. Some people will want to wait. But we are here for the long run.” Not everyone, however, is choosing to wait. So far the Japan and U.K launches have been encouraging, according to Lauren, with several pieces purchased immediately in the first week. The watches will be available at Ralph Lauren outposts, as well as certain department stores like Barneys and Saks.
