In a candid remark from Lanvin chief Alber Elbaz, the designer made a refreshing point that reminded us even couture designers are human. Elbaz made it explicitly clear that he does not put up with pretentious people at is label, that it is, people who act like witches with a capital 'B'. He claims mean people stifle his creativity and that he prides himself on maintaining a work atmosphere that is friendly and clear of drama. The designer in chief says he makes every effort to keep a good relationship with his colleagues, even the interns, and that he expects the same in every one at his label.
The designer recently quipped, "The people I chose to run my new store in London are nice. I cannot work with b*****s, I can't I can't. Maybe I am too sensitive, I get blocked. There are some people who don't give a damn. With me, I find that if there is no energy flowing or no connection, I can't think. Talent is amazing-I love it, appreciate it. I respect talent a lot. But if you ask me, 'Talent and b***h, or less talent and good? I'll go with less talent."
Elbaz also added to British Vogue that the reason he thinks his staff all get along so well is the French love of food. He noted, “We have such an amazing rapport and I
think one of the reasons is the food. We are always eating together. At
first, I was worried. Is it horrible to ask someone who work for us for
three months, ‘What did you learn?’ And they say, ‘Where the best sushi is
in Paris.’?” We don't think so. What a treat it would be to work under one of the most innovative designers of today who also just happens to have a lovely sense of humor!
