The official date for the release of the Fashion Calendar for New York fashion week will be this Friday, after many circulating rumors and speculation on how much the fashion event will be changed. A few notable names have already confirmed their status such as Tory Burch who said she would in fact be showcasing her looks for the first time in the traditional venue of Bryant Park on September 16th. Others, however, will be taking their shows offsite to various venues around the city. Some of the designers to have confirmed offsite presentations for the second consecutive season include Betsey Johnson, Marchesa, Monique Lhuillier and Carmen Marc Valvo. And though the fashion media has been nervous that this year's fashion week will be a blander, pared-down version of previous years due to the recession, The Fashion Calendar’s Ruth Finley said otherwise to WWD yesterday.
“There will be a lot more shows than last year." She noted. "There are a lot of new
people you have never heard of. Bryant Park is not completely booked
