Supermodel and actress Amber Valetta has just announced she will be launching a clothing line with L.A.-based clothing label Monrow. The newest addition to the MTD, or model-turned-designer club, says she excited to create versatile wardrobe basics like thin layering tanks and tees, day dresses, blazers, hoodies, rompers, capes, and even a smoking jacket for the brand. Valetta told WWD that that she wants her line to be wearable by everyone, saying,“I’m not interested in making clothes that are not accessible. Sometimes it feels like it hurts when you make a big
purchase, so I really believe that the more expensive things should be
gems that you keep in your closet, not trends.” Despite Valetta's good intentions, however, its already been revealed that a simple romper will run around $160. The rest of the collection, due out in November, has yet to be divulged, though the model did say the pieces will be mostly in shades of navy, cream, black, gray, and light pink with accents in silver and gold. Valetta explained she wanted to keep her designs in tune with Monrow's signature look of simple and basic chic. She joins the ranks of models Christy Turlington, Erin Wasson, and of course Kate Moss in crossing over to the other side of fashion so we shall see how her upcoming designs match up.
