Last Wednesday the new Marc by Marc Jacobs political t-shirts hit the shelves of the label's accessories store on Bleeker Street in Manhattan. The design of the two shirts, aimed at raising awareness about gay rights and same sex marriage, carry the words, "I pay my taxes, I want my RIGHTS!" written across the front. One depicts a cartoon-like drawing of a presumably lesbian couple, both clad in a little black dress and sitting affectionately with a child, also sporting a cute LBD. The other features the phrase sketched out in cursive, with accompanying doodles of a dollar sign and an American flag. Both shirts run for $24 and will be offered at the 385 Bleeker Street store, where the assistant manger says they were selling throughout the rest of last week and received a highly positive response. A rep from the Marc by Marc Jacobs showroom says the store will only carry a vary limited quantity of about 200 shirts. The shirts are also being sold online while supplies last.
