On the heels of the announcement that Oscar de la Renta would be celebrated with Fashion Group International's Superstar Award, another notable designer has just been picked for an honorable accolade. Esteemed art and design school, The Pratt Institute has chosen Marc Jacobs to be awarded as one of the school's Legends 2009. Other well known names being honored at the school's October 29th awards ceremony and benefit include architect and designer David Rockwell and timeless musician Patti Smith. In addition to honoring the Legends 2009, the benefit also serves to raise funds for the students' financial aid, which 80 percent of Pratt's student body require. The benefit will take place at 7 World Trade Center in Manhattan and will be cohosted by Pratt's president Thomas F. Schutte and board of trustees chair Mike Pratt. Although Jacobs will not be required to showcase his work at the ceremony, Patti Smith has reportedly agreed to perform after the benefit's dinner.
