Artist Marilyn Minter has recently been the word around town as the next big visionary to fuse fashion and art. The artist's name recently came up when Madonna bought her "Green Pink Caviar" video to use as a backdrop for the singer's 'Sticky and Sweet' world tour. The video depicts models sucking on candy and bakery products, shot under a pane of glass for a colorful, up close and graphic experience. Madonna seemingly loved the concept and felt it fit in perfectly with her tour's flavorful theme. Then cosmetics brand MAC recruited the artist to create exclusive images for the company's fall line of eye-popping pigments.
Now luxe retailer Intermix is is announcing a wearable collaboration with the artist in the form of a limited edition totebag. The bag will feature a still shot from the now wildly popular "Green Pink Caviar" video. Priced at $48, the bag will debut in stores during the Breast Cancer Awareness Month of October and proceeds from the totes will go to benefit nonprofit group Bright Pink. As an extra tip of the hat to the artist's innovations, the retailer's New York and Los Angeles locations will also be featuring the trailer to the artist's film. Minter herself will open an exhibit at Regen Projects II gallery in L.A. this coming fall.
