If models can turn designer, then whose to say designers can't turn director? No one, according to Tom Ford who recently completed his film industry crossover with the film, "A Single Man". The designer recently announced that the film—for which he directed, co-produced, and co-wrote the adaptation—will make its world debut at the Venice Film Festival on September 11th. Set in Los Angeles in 1962 at the height of the Cuban missile crisis, the film the story of a British college professor struggling after the
death of his longtime partner and will star Colin Firth, Julianne Moore, Matthew Goode, and Nicholas Hout. The movie is based on the novel by Christopher Isherwood of the same name. “The story is a romantic tale of love interrupted, the isolation that
is an inherent part of the human condition, and ultimately the
importance of the seemingly smaller moments in life,” said a rep from Ford’s
production company, Fade to Black, to WWD. Ford himself noted that being selected for the highly respected film festival was, "a great honor."
