With so many pregnant celebs and our own Second City Style Editor-In-Chief’s baby due date quite imminent, I thought why not eye up a few celebrity maternity lines to see what’s out there for the mom who wants to be dressed by a star. Perhaps Lauren Dimet Waters herself will choose a label and flaunt it as fiercely as she has been flaunting that pregnancy glow!
Here are the three fresh and hip celeb labels soon-to-be moms should get to know.
For The Fierce Mama:
Back in November 2008, the ever-so-popular Project Runway superstar Christian Siriano teamed up with the Marta Abrams and Elise Rosemarin of the label Moody Mamas to produce his first celeb maternity line. With a mostly silver, black and crimson palette (though there are some lighter colors) it’s definitely for the fierce mama at heart so it’s no surprise the label has the same name.
We certainly think this will be Miss Lauren’s favorite line of the three as the label includes elegant and clean lines, sophisticated dresses, and a crisp sheen for the glamour girl who still wants to look chic with a bun in the oven. Christian certainly celebrates the pregnant woman as he makes sure cuts are open around cleavage and tight around the bump.
Many of the pieces can probably be worn by non-pregnant women, too! That means once Lauren starts shedding baby pounds, she can hang on to that ruched dress for a post-pregnancy party. The entire line is reasonably priced too! Just about everything is under $175 and already being sold on the MoodyMamas website. It’s no wonder Jessica Alba, Tori Spelling, and Ashlee Simpson are all fans!
For The Sports Mom:
The View’s Elisabeth Hasselbeck is tailoring her new line to the athlete in all of us! We’re not sure how many pregnant mommies are jumping up and down with a football, but you’ll bet they’ll be wearing Hasselbeck’s comfortable NFL label. The current mother of three has teamed with Reebok to launch a line of NFL maternity shirts which are both short and long sleeve. The shirts will feature official team logos like, “Rookie”, “Mom’s Tiny Kicker†and “Fan Pending.†Just in time for the 2010 season.
The shirts look quite comfy are selling for $30 to $35 in gift packs with baby bibs and onesies. We’re pretty sure Lauren will be sporting the style — around the house on her bad days, anyway.
For The Hippie Mom:
We all know Nicole Richie’s funky fresh bohemian style of paisley print dress and long flowing hems, so it wasn’t a big surprise to see her transform that style while pregnant with her first child Harlow. Now bulging with her second, the launch of her new maternity collection for A Pea in the Pod is the perfect way for moms-to-be to showcase themselves in Nicole Richie style.
Richie’s new mom label features peasant tops (with prints of course!), maxi dresses and layered t-shirts that she herself has modeled for new ads for the brand.
While this is definitely something Richie herself would definitely wear, is it something that Lauren would put on for meetings with friends? Maybe. With Richie herself being a fairly young mom, it’s not surprising her label takes on a youthful, earthy feel. We can see Lauren in one of more elegant black dresses, but not in those signature patterned maxi dresses.
With pieces ranging from $48 to $148 in all A Pea in the Pod stores, we don’t see why you wouldn’t want to get your hands on these!
