After a impromptu interview New York Magazine had with Marc Jacobs last weekend, we gleaned the designer's mood was less than thrilled toward the upcoming madness surrounding Fashion Week. When asked if Jacobs was looking forward to Fashion Week and its continually unfolding lineup of shows, he simply answered "No." When asked if he actually enjoyed the week long fest of fashion-themed events, he replied, "Enjoy? Enjoy is a weird word. It's work — work is more what it's about." Oh yeah. The punch drunk euphoria that Fashion Week inspires in the common man (or woman) is a seemingly different experience for those whose livelihood depends on it.
But Jacobs reportedly has some upcoming event to look forward to, since Page Six announced today that the highly anticipated nuptials between the designer and his Brazilian boyfriend Lorenzo Martone are scheduled to occur this weekend. The couple had already confirmed the location of their upcoming wedding would be Provicetown, Mass. on Cape Cod but had refused to reveal when it would actually happen. He did mention last weekend that "[The wedding will be] very quiet, just the two of us. We're keeping it very simple," adding that not even friends or family would be attending the ceremony. If this is in fact the weekend when the happy couple will tie the knot, let's hope it allows Jacobs to relieve some of that pre-Fashion Week stress. Congrats to them!
