Will Peter Som be heading to Tommy Hilfiger?
Designer Peter Som may be gearing up for a role at Tommy Hilfiger, WWD reported today. According to inside sources, Hilfiger has seemingly been in discussions with Som to bring him on board as a part-time creative consultant. Hilfiger has publicly admitted to trying to find a creative director since 2007, having considered Miguel Androver, among others, in the past. Since leaving the now shuttered label Bill Blass, Som has been working on building up his own eponymous line. Som was creative director at Bill Blass and left last October, ending the relationship with his longtime supporter, Lord & Taylor subsidiary Creative Design Studios. Since then he has signed a licensing deal with Milan-based clothing manufacturer Margon and New York multiline showroom ADC. No word yet on whether Hilfiger's camp has officially made Som an offer but we're excited to find out!
